Holiday wishes

As we head into the holiday season – a time to share fond memories and take stock of our blessings – I would like to recognize the community spirit that makes me proud to represent Ward 12.

Looking back on my past three years as your representative on Council, I am proud to have seen so much positive engagement among constituents in our area. I have watched good neighbours take action to create communities where residents feel that others are looking out for them – creating communities that are safer as a result of these connections. The City of Edmonton’s Good Neighbour Awards program, which I was privileged to help launch, has received hundreds of applications over the past two years. I see community engagement, too, when I attend various community meetings, where citizens come together to revitalize neighbourhood parks, host festive gatherings, or communicate concerns to Council on behalf of their areas. And then there are our city’s Snow Angels – residents who have adopted the sidewalk of a neighbour who is unable to clear snow on his or her own.

There are many opportunities to give back to our communities, and these often small actions are what create vibrant, inclusive places to live. Once again, I would like to thank you, the residents of Ward 12, for all the contributions you have made, and I encourage you to reflect this holiday season on your vision of a great community. I look forward to hearing from you in the New Year.

May the closeness of friends, the comfort of home, and the unity of our communities renew your spirits this Holiday Season

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
